Energy Efficiency Upgrades to the Showerhouse

For anyone who missed the General Meeting on Monday, March 23, an update was provided regarding planned energy efficiency upgrades to the showerhouse.

The primary piece of this project is the solar panel installation. Solar panels will be installed on the new picnic pavilion so that the majority of the showerhouse power can come from solar energy.

Once implemented, LVCC expects this project to significantly reduce hydro bills.

Other planned showerhouse improvements include:

  • updating the current HVAC system with an HRV system;
  • upgrading the lighting to LED;
  • improving the insulation in the roof.

Funding has been received through the CBT Smart Grant program to support these energy upgrades.

Before the remaining improvements can begin, the solar panels need to be installed so LVCC can access rebates from BC Hydro, which will help fund the rest of the project.

Since the solar panels need to be installed before the other improvements can proceed, work has begun with the picnic pavilion.

This is an exciting step toward making LVCC more energy efficient, financially sustainable, and better equipped for the future.
